Please note: If you are a young woman aged 10-18 and are interested in being a Teen Volunteer at Ophelia's Place, click here to check out the volunteer opportunities listed in the "for girls" section of our website.
***Ophelia's Place typically offers training to qualified volunteers once or twice a year, depending on program needs. We are always happy to accept resumes from women who are interested in helping us help girls. Qualified candidates will bring with them a strong awareness of girls and women’s issues, excellent listening skills, flexibility, empathy, good personal boundaries and a commitment to social change.
Current Volunteer Opportunities:
We are currently in need of volunteers who are willing to help us operate the center by answering phones, helping us get caught up on administrative tasks, and greeting the public. Some minimal training is required. To schedule an interview, please send your resume via e-mail to: kyrakelly@opheliasplace.net.
For those interested in direct service, we may be offering a Winter Volunteer Training in December or January, exact dates TBA. Please let us know if you are interested in being part of this training. Prospective volunteers must be able to commit for 2-4 hours per week through June of 2009.
How to Apply:
Please call 284-4333 or e-mail us to request an application. Applications should be returned along with a copy of your current resume (including relevant experience and/or coursework) to our Services Coordinator, Kyra Kelly, by email: kyrakelly@opheliasplace.net or mail to: 1577 Pearl Street, Suite 200, Eugene, OR 97401.
Please note: We conduct a series of interviews and check references prior to inviting any prospective volunteers to attend our Volunteer Training. Completing an application does not guarantee that you will be accepted as a volunteer.
Ophelia’s Place generally recruits for direct-service volunteers in early spring. Ophelia's Place provides all selected applicants with a 20-hour training on our philosophies, protocol and relevant curricula, and provides ongoing bi-weekly supervision and support. The first segment of Volunteer Training typically begins in late May - early June. Once trained, volunteers may elect to begin volunteering at Ophelia' s Place during the upcoming summer months before completing their training in the fall.
If selected as direct service volunteers, interns or support group co-facilitators, applicants must be able to commit to regular volunteer hours (2-5 hours per week) for a full school year (Fall - Summer.) Experience working with girls is preferred.
