Multicultural Girls’ Group
for girls ages 14-18.
June 22, 23, 24 & 25th.

We will share our experiences and insights while discussing challenges, making friends, building skills, and having fun! Girls will participate in activities related to personal power, self-care, and connecting with community. Group open to girls with Latino, African, Asian, Native American or Pacific Islander roots, or any girl whose life has been affected by racism.
Improvisational Theatre Workshop!
for girls ages 12-18.
July 6, 7, 8 and 9.

Through the use of improvisational theatre games, girls will learn to creatively express themselves, enhance their sensory and communication skills, build confidence through role-playing, and solve problems using group agreement and teamwork. This positive and playful form of theatre will benefit not only the aspiring actress, but all girls facing the challenges of their unique world. The workshop will culminate in an improvisational performance for family and friends!
Relax & Rejuvenate with Yoga & Meditation
for girls age 14-18.

Join us in learning to use our bodies and breath to relax and unwind while having fun and building new skills! Gentle, fun yoga poses and guided meditation will help us focus on practicing self-care, building community, and increasing confidence. No experience required.
Discover Your Inner Scientist Held from 1-4 PM
for girls ages 10-18.

Who says science can’t be exciting? In this workshop led by a local woman with a passion for science, we will have fun exploring the field of science using hands-on activities, learning about and meeting other women scientists, and maybe even taking a field trip!
Discovering & Being Who You Are Through the Expressive Arts
for girls ages 14-18.
August 3, 4, 5 and 6.

Through journaling, art/collage, movement, and discussion we will explore and celebrate your Whole Self, not just the self you think others want you to be. As a unique person you have a range of emotions, experiences, opinions and ideas that deserve to be seen, heard, and appreciated! Come and explore all the different parts that make up who you are. Find things you may share in common with other girls and aspects of yourself you may have never known were there.

Girls’ Auto Care
for girls age 15-18
Saturday, June 20th from 10 AM– 2PM.
TO REGISTER and receive important safety instructions, please call Amanda (284-4340) by Wed. 6/17. Join us at Ophelia’s Place to learn some basic auto care skills from a local female mechanic/auto technician (and bring your mom or female mentor if you’d like!) Lunch & safety goggles will be provided. Cost is $10. Some scholarships are available.
Reflect and unwind at Spencer’s Butte!
for girls age 14-18
Tuesday, July 14 from 10-3. PLEASE REGISTER by Tuesday, July 7. Call Amanda at 284-4340. We will hike up Spencer Butte, south of Eugene, looking for beautiful views, relaxing conversation, and moments of solitude. Please feel free to bring your journal, pen/pencil, and/or art supplies for reflection times throughout the hike. This 1.2 mile hike is moderately challenging, with uphill sections. Meet at Ophelia’s Place at 10 AM and we will provide transportation to and from the park. Please bring your lunch and water. Babysitter Training
for girls age 11-15
Friday, July 17th 9 AM - 4 PM . PLEASE REGISTER by Friday, July 10th. Call Amanda at 284-4340. If you want to make some money babysitting this summer or increase your knowledge & skills, come to Ophelia’s Place for this training! The Red Cross Babysitter’s Training is a seven-hour course that gives participants the valuable skills and confidence necessary to care for infants and children. We will cover safety issues, preventing injuries and illnesses, basic child care, first aid, decision-making skills, and age-appropriate behavior and play. Participants receive a text book, a reference handbook and a CDROM with babysitting tools, and upon successful completion of the class, a certification card. Cost is $15, and lunch will be provided.
Relax and explore at Mt. Pisgah!
for girls age 10-13 and a parent/guardian
Saturday, August 8 from 10-3. PLEASE REGISTER by Friday, July 31. Call Amanda at 284-4340. We will meet on the East Gate of Mt. Pisgah (off Ridgeway Road, see map on website) at 10 AM and hike the east trail to the Willamette River. This mellow hike is 2 miles round trip and will take us through oak woodland, meadow, and conifer forests, ending at the beautiful Coast Fork of the Willamette for lunch. Book Discussion & Relationships group:
for girls ages 15-18
Most of us know someone that loves the Twilight series. In this 4-week group, we will use the books to help us discuss media messages about women and relationships, and to have conversations about choosing healthy relationships in our own real lives. Friday Movie Day! for girls ages 13-18
(under 13 OK with parent permission.)
Free! Every Friday, 3:30-6 PM. Come to Ophelia’s Place on Fridays to enjoy popcorn and films that celebrate girls. Bring a friend! No cost and no registration required. Movies will start at 3:30 PM and we’ll wrap up any after-movie discussion by 6 PM. The movie of the day will be determined by democratic vote from the titles in our library, selected by the girls that are here.
