Raising BIPOC Youth for White Guardians | Eugene

For white parents/guardians/caregivers of BIPOC youth aged 10-18

Saturday, June 1

10:00am-1:00pm

In Person, Eugene site

FREE – Donations Welcome

Registration deadline: May 24.

Many white parents and guardians struggle with the question of how to help their children of color thrive in a racist culture they themselves can recognize but cannot fully understand. This workshop aims to explore unique issues related to white parents raising youth of color, including why “colorblind” strategies are unhelpful, why talking about race is important, and why building community benefits both parents and children. This workshop is led by white and BIPOC therapists, and together, we will discuss the ways privilege, culture, race, and racism intersect and interplay in mixed race families’ everyday lives as well as how white parents can practice antiracism individually and collectively.

Advanced registration is required.
