Empowering You to Empower Girls

For Ophelia’s Place, educating, supporting, and empowering girls also means educating, supporting, and empowering those around them. During our 15 years of supporting girls, we have learned that it requires a holistic approach for girls to grow up feeling empowered. Research has consistently shown that girls’ development is most significantly influenced by the adults who are part of their lives. Parents, educators, after-school activities and youth-serving organizations all play a role in a girl’s development of a healthy sense of self and Ophelia’s Place is here for you.

OP’s adult education is designed to increase adults’ awareness of issues faced by youth and families. Trainings will offer suggestions and skill development for helping improve individual and family outcomes from a strength-based and trauma-responsive perspective. OP staff draw on evidence-based practice, current research, and years of experience working directly with youth and families to offer accessible, informative, and practical tools that can be immediately implemented.

We offer trainings for groups of 5-75 individuals on a variety of topics, which can be customized to serve the needs of the agency or group. Topics include: Adolescent Sexuality, Weight Bias and Body Diversity, Poverty 101, Collective Trauma and Collective Care, Working with Girls on the Autism Spectrum, Conflict Resolution and Healthy Communication in the Workplace, Working with Disabled People, Privilege and Anti-Oppression 101, Adultism and Adult Allies, and more.

What we’ve heard from trainees:

“Thank you! It was helpful to define terms. It was also helpful when you explained the motivation for behaviors. It helps to have examples and language to share with clients, caregivers and guardians!”

“River was very open and easy to listen to. Her presentation style was non-judgmental and effective. I’m a non-clinical staff but it was still appropriate and helpful to me.”

“Thank you! I learned a lot and received some guidance on how to handle some new topics with my teen clients.”

Please contact our team to arrange a training for your organization or parent group, and to discuss rates. Call (541) 284-4333 or email us at info@opheliasplace.net
