OP’s Albany Location is Closing
Nonprofits across the country are facing a decline in available funding due to significant federal budget cuts. As a result, foundation grant funding has become increasingly competitive, and Ophelia’s Place is feeling the impact.
Since January, we have adjusted our programming to address these funding challenges, all while carefully considering how to continue meeting the needs of the girls and families we serve.
After thoughtful consideration, we’ve made the difficult decision to close OP’s Downtown Albany site. Our last day of providing after-school drop-in hours and activities will be Tuesday, June 10. Our final event, Albany Pride Palooza, will be held at 1-4 pm on June 20 at the space. And therapy services in Albany will continue through the end of 2025.
Even with this change, Ophelia’s Place remains deeply committed to supporting girls and families in Linn and Benton counties. We will continue providing services through our partnerships with Greater Albany Public Schools and through our Training and Outreach program.
While closing this two-year-old location is not an easy decision, we believe it is a responsible step toward sustaining our mission of providing life-changing confidence and community for every girl.
Girls need support more than ever. We’re driven to finding thoughtful ways to continue providing them with growth-focused education and support. Because as Ophelia’s Place remains resilient in our work, we hope to show girls that their resilience can help them navigate challenging times too.
We encourage you to support nonprofits in Linn and Benton counties, especially those who directly serve historically marginalized communities. Nonprofits and the communities they serve need your support more than ever.
