In many cultures, dance is an essential part of the healing process, particularly in relieving the symptoms of psychological distress. Dance plays an integral role in socialization, expression, and building community, which helps maintain one’s well-being.

Join Ophelia’s Place and RITMO, Oregon State University’s Latin Dance team for an unforgettable evening of dance! This event will start with a dance class from 5-6pm followed by an open dance session from 6-7pm. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to dance and make new friends.

Youth are invited to bring an adult of their choice for this cottagecore themed tea party, where we will be concocting our own tea blends, fairy crafting, and enjoying one another’s company. We will snack on tea party fare including jam and biscuits, and of course there will be plenty of tea to drink! Cottagecore costumes and outfits are encouraged but not required. We are going to cook alfajores, a popular dessert from South America, especially in Argentina, like a cookie sandwich with sweet cream or strawberry jam fillings, with a fine and delicate consistency that melts in the mouth. This is a recipe full of textures and rich flavors, join us!

Greenhill staff will be taking us on a tour to learn about the services Greenhill provides for our community, and how they support the animals that stay with them. We also get to spend some time with the cats and kittens inside the Cattery!

Cottage-Core Crafting Party | Eugene

Fall is the perfect time to tap into your cottage-core aesthetic! Youth are invited to bring an adult of their choice to this crafting session, where we will be making mushroom-themed jewelry and decorating baskets with hidden compartments. It’s also a great time to show off your favorite cottage-core outfits and play around in our photobooth! Not sure what cottage-core is? No worries! We’ll walk you through it – no previous cottage-core experience required. Costumes are welcome but not required.

 

Who is welcome at OP?

OP recognizes an expansive definition of girl. OP is for all trans girls and cis girls, as well as for nonbinary youth, gender nonconforming youth, and genderqueer youth, who feel or have a connection to girlhood or girlness. Welcome to your space!

Parent-Daughter GirlCon

Ages 10-18 + a guardian of their choice

GirlCon is back in-person! Hosted at our OP Eugene site, we will have a variety of Comic Con-style workshops and activities for youth and a guardian of their choice to participate in. Workshops will include fanfiction writing, fanart/original character creation, and a chance to work on making your own cosplay accessories! And of course we can’t have GirlCon without our Cosplay Fashion Show, so come dressed in your best cosplay and sign-up if you want to strut your stuff on the runway!

For youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their guardian

Join us at OP Eugene for our Place Books Parent-Daughter Workshop. We will create "Place Books" to record thoughts, feelings and to make art. We will find creative courage together to do visual journaling and to express our authentic selves. "Place Books" are creative journals that invite us to express ourselves through art in fun and meaningful ways. Skill building in self acceptance, self awareness and social skills will be part of this art workshop. Registration limited.
